The Right Kind of Work: A Tribute to Hardworking Women

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.
— Proverbs 31:28–29 (NIV)

Enjoy this sneak peek from the devotional Grit and Grace: Daily Inspiration for the Hardworking Woman.

My mother is the hardest-working woman I know. In her lifetime, she has raised kids, cattle, and arguably, my dad. When I hear the saying, “A man’s work is from dawn to dusk, but a woman’s work is never done,” I think of my mother. Whether it is doctoring calves, fixing fences, or feeding a tribe, she’s done it all, and she will run circles around you while she does it. She is the epitome of a rancher.

Women have great responsibilities, and it is no wonder God made us natural caretakers. We steward our marriages, children, homes, and the unique work God calls us to do. While some days can seem overwhelming, I consider it a blessing to be entrusted with so much.

What do you steward well? What are your gifts? Do not be modest today; write down the top three things you offer to your family or occupation.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the opportunity to honorably use the gifts that You have specifically chosen for me. Help me to recognize and refine these gifts so that I can be used by You to bless those around me, amen.
